"was listening to the album Felt Mountain by Goldfrapp today while working from home. It is still my favorite Goldfrapp album and Utopia is my favorite song. If you listen to the words you will realize that it is about having your individuality stripped away from you, which for me is a fate worse than death. Obviously a girl with fuchsia hair likes to be different. Being the same as everyone else is not living at all. Being unique is not just a style, it is what makes you who you are. What makes you interesting and what makes the world a better place. Uniqueness is one of my favorite subjects. I was brought up to be a free thinker. My Grandfather was a self-made man who taught me that reading and expanding your mind was the gateway to success. When I was 15 he gave me a book called Atlas Shrugged. The author Ayn Rand wrote about the importance of being an individual. Without individuality and differences creativity will cease to exist. By the time I was 18 I had read all of her books which I strongly recommend. I am writing about this because I feel that we are living in historical times and no matter what your politics are you must always remember to think freely and never stop being curious, especially about those who might not agree with you on important issues. My biggest inspiration is seeking what is unique and surprising in life. Sameness is boring, everyone agreeing with each other is no fun at all. Healthy debate is food for the mind and soul. What am I going on and on about this for?, you might ask. It is the core of my design philosophy and the language of my sparkling world. Being different, being unique, being an individual and creating your own style is what TARINA TARANTINO is all about."
